Fall Symphony Orchestra Concert at Orchestra Hall

November 19 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm

Join CYSO’s Smphony Orchestra at Orchestra Hall on Sunday, November 19 for an evening of unforgettable performances led by Music Director Allen Tinkham. This special evening of music will highlight voices that aren’t always heard in the orchestral canon: Contemporary and historic women composers, an orchestral spin on traditional Middle Eastern folk music, and more.

Tickets are no longer available online. They can be purchased from the Symphony Center box office before the performance on Sunday or by calling 312-294-3000.

“Playing music with others is the best way to learn to truly listen, and not just to the  voices we expect to hear.  At this fall’s Symphony Orchestra performances you will hear music written by individuals who don’t fit into the ‘club’ of composers we hear most often at orchestra concerts. We feature the music of women composers current and past, with Joan Tower representing women alive and composing today and Lili Boulanger representing women composers of the past who lived in a time when it was nearly impossible for women to gain attention as serious composers. We will also perform the music of Kareem Roustom, a Syrian composer, born in a part of the world we do not normally associate with classical orchestra music.”

– Music Director Allen Tinkham
