Jazz Orchestra Education Concert

January 31 @ 10:00 am

Concerts at 10:00 AM, 11:30 AM, and 1:00 PM

CYSO Education Concerts are free field trip opportunities offered to all CPS schools, aimed specifically at 3rd-5th grade audiences. Conductors and CYSO performers develop programming to engage students and increase their knowledge of instruments, performance, and music history, as well as pre- and post-concert lessons teachers can use to enhance student learning. For CYSO musicians, these concerts create important opportunities for mentorship and demonstrate the power of music to engage and serve our communities.

Jazz is one of the United States’ most important contributions to the world of music, and Chicago has played an vital role as a center for jazz music for more than a century. Celebrate this uniquely American art form with young musicians from CYSO’s Jazz Orchestra! Discover the instruments that make up a jazz band, what it’s like to play in an ensemble, and get groovin’ to classics by some of Jazz’s greatest composers.
