The Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Chicago Youth in Music Festival takes place on April 9-11 in partnership with Chicago Musical Pathways Initiative (CMPI) and National Instrumentalist Mentoring and Advancement Network (NIMAN). We’re proud to share that nine CYSO students who also participate in CMPI will take place in this year’s festivities. Congratulations to Zachary Allen, Noah Briones, Aidan Sinclair Daniels, Sophia Luong, Elena Miller, Natalia Noriega, Calleigh Riordan, Owen Riordan and Anika Veda!
This annual celebration will bring together over 100 students and institutional leaders from across the country for three days of musical learning, conversation, and collaboration. The new partnerships with CMPI and NIMAN puts the voices of young BIPOC musicians and students from other represented backgrounds front and center in educating the next generation of orchestral players.
The festival includes rehearsals and coachings with CSO Sir Georg Solti Conducting Apprentice Lina Gonzalez-Granados. The event culminates with a side-by-side concert with students and members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Civic Orchestra of Chicago and Chicago Sinfonietta in an open rehearsal led by CSO Zell Music Director Riccardo Muti. Tickets ot the final event on Monday, April 11 are free with reservation. Get yours here.
