We are thrilled to share that two of the three finalists for this year’s Crain-Maling Foundation Chicago Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition are CYSO musicians! Congratulations to Symphony Orchestra’s Chloe Nam, flute, and Elyse Schlesinger, horn. We’ll be cheering them both on when they perform in the finals at Orchestra Hall on February 24, accompanied by Civic Orchestra.
The Crain-Maling Foundation Chicago Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition is a prestigious concerto competition for Illinois’ top young soloists. This year’s competition was open to woodwinds, brass, harp and percussion. The winner will be featured in the following season as a soloist with members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as part of the CSO School and Family Concerts.
Chloe Nam, flute, will perform Concerto for Flute and Orchestra in D Major, I. Allegro molto moderato, composed by Reinecke. Chloe is in 10th grade and attending Northside College Prep.
Elyse Schlesinger, horn, will perform Horn Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major, I. Allegro, composed by R. Strauss. Elyse is in 11th grade and attending William Fremd High School.
Congrats to both Chloe and Elyse—we can’t wait to cheer them on at the finals!
