It is with a mix of sadness and gratitude that we announce that CYSO Executive Director Joshua Simonds will leave the organization at the end of July.
Joshua has served CYSO for a total of 12 seasons– 3 as Executive Director and prior to that, 9 years as General Manager. During Joshua’s tenure, CYSO has more than doubled our enrollment, built relationships with world-class composers that resulted in numerous world and local premieres, and initiated groundbreaking collaborations with artists and organizations such as Ben Folds and the Chicago Bulls. Joshua has overseen CYSO’s rebranding efforts, grown the Board of Directors, re-established the international touring program, and increased financial support on a national and local level.
Joshua and his family will relocate to Indianapolis where he has accepted the position of Executive Director at the nationally-recognized Percussive Arts Society. This new role will engage Joshua’s passion for arts management as well as his background in percussion.
From the Board, staff, and families of CYSO, we thank Joshua for his dedicated service to this organization and wish him the best in his new endeavor.
The CYSO Board of Directors will do a national search for the new Executive Director and we will make an announcement once a candidate has been selected.
