Playing a Story Wraps Up a Successful Series!

We recently debuted the final broadcast of our fall livestream series “Playing a Story,” wrapping up a great series exploring storytelling through music. The series includes four installments, all hosted by CYSO’s Assistant Director of String Ensembles, Anne Huynh McTighe.

Geared toward elementary schoolers, each broadcast in the series explored how different sounds paint pictures in our mind. The September session explored different types of moods created through music and the book Never Play Music at the Zoo by John Lithgow. October’s Halloween-themed livestream focused on the potential of students’ instruments to play spooky, creepy sounds. In November, four students composed music based on the book Journey by Aaron Becker and in December, we debuted the final performances of their original compositions joined by special guest, author Aaron Becker!

Thank you to our students, special guests, and viewers that made this series fun and engaging! You can find all four videos linked below.
