Recent Student Achievements: Fischoff, CCPA Young Composer, M-Prize

Chamber ensemble Cerulean Quartet will advance to the Fischoff Competition quarterfinals this May. The group, composed of violinists Cristina Ciubancan and Vincent Wong, violist Margaret Mary O’Malley, and cellist Alex Levinson and coached by Paula Kosower, recently won second place at the 2017 Rembrandt Chamber Music Competition.

Composition Seminar student Angelica Ketcham was recently awarded first place in the Chicago College of Performing Arts’ Young Composer Competition. Angelica, who also plays cello in Concert Orchestra, will have her winning Haiku for string quartet performed at the CCPA Student Composition Recital on April 12.

Chamber ensemble Zephyrus Winds was selected as Winds Semi-Finalists in the 2017 M-Prize Chamber Arts Competition. Comprised of Jennifer Wang (flute), Ryan Williamson (French horn), Anne Pinkerton (oboe), Katia Waxman (clarinet), and Allen Jiang (bassoon) and coached by Hanna Sterba, the group will compete in the competition finals in May.
