Symphony Orchestra’s Robert Black Wins US Marine Band Concerto Competition

CYSO is proud to share that Symphony Orchestra co-principal tuba player Robert Black recently won the 2018 “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band Concerto Competition. Performing at a recital held in the John Philip Sousa Band Hall in Washington DC, Bobby performed Edward Gregson’s Allegro Deciso from Concerto for Tuba. He was awarded a $2,500 scholarship from the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation and will return to Washington on March 25 to perform as a soloist with the Marine Band.
